Sylvain Charpentier Head Manager – Real Estate Investments |
Sylvain Charpentier has worked in finance for nearly 30 years, the last 20 spent in the area real estate investments. He has acted as Head Manager – Real Estate Investments for Hydro-Québec’s pension fund since 2010, and currently oversees the development and execution of a real estate investment strategy.
He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec. He started his career in 1987 as auditor. Between 1989 and 1992, he did turnaround and insolvency at the same accounting firm. He launched his real estate career doing non-performing loan recovery for a life insurance company. This position lead him, in 1997, to carry out acquisition and asset management for the same group.
Between 1998 and 2009, Charpentier worked at Cadim, a division of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), where he actively participated in the acquisition, management and disposition of a wide range of company assets. In the last six years of his term, in his role as Vice-President, he managed strategic partnerships (subsidiaries) and oversaw Cadim’s foreign operations. From 2009 to 2010, he directed Maestro, a CDPQ subsidiary managing specialized funds in retirement homes.
